Technology and scope

Understand how it works before taking it into the field.

Asbilo connects measurements on drawings with installation records, photos, and review history. Learn the core recording workflow, company-specific operating scope, and what to check before adoption.

Drawing management that preserves measurement references

Set the measurement scale by selecting two points with a known real distance or entering a paper scale ratio. Use a paper ratio only when the PDF's original sheet size matches its stated scale.

Cropping sets the area to display instead of cutting and overwriting the stored PDF. It preserves the original drawing dimensions, scale, route coordinates, and asset positions. You can restore the full-sheet view.

  • Review the measured route length separately from additional lengths entered by the user.
  • Drawing revisions retain earlier material and include a step to check alignment with existing positions.
  • Users enter reference dimensions or a scale ratio. Automatic AI scale detection is not available.

Cropping and recalibrating the scale are different operations. Recalibration can change calculated lengths, so check the reference dimensions and the impact before proceeding.

Drawing display focused on the area you need

A full-sheet preview remains visible while the areas needed on screen are rendered in greater detail. When you pan, available tiles are reused and newly needed areas are rendered.

Resolution and cache size are limited according to screen size and memory use. Finger precision aiming and pen input assistance are available, with drawing zoom up to 256×.

  • Zoom and pan to inspect the work area while recording routes and asset positions.
  • Tile reuse depends on zoom, resolution, and the current cache.
  • Zooming does not create detail or sharpness that is absent from the original PDF.

Responsiveness varies with PDF complexity and device performance. Check your actual drawings on the phones and tablets you plan to use.

Prepare for offline work before losing the connection

Download the drawings and selected material you need before going offline. Records and photos are kept on the device and synchronized after a connection is available.

The web browser and Android app each use their own storage. Signing into the same account does not automatically move unsent material to another device.

  • Before entering the work area, check that downloads have completed and storage space is available.
  • Check pending uploads and synchronization conflicts, then take any required action.
  • Signing in, receiving new server material, server reviews, and synchronization require a connection.

Do not uninstall the app or clear browser storage while material remains unsent. Offline storage does not replace a backup against device resets or loss.

Separate work access from review responsibility

Company, site, and project assignments determine the work a user can access. Site access applies to that site's projects, while individual project access applies to the work material linked to that project. The server also checks access.

Reviewers for new records can be assigned from team lead and site staff settings. Authors cannot approve their own records. Field and office review steps retain a history of checks.

Versions with company switching validate the selected company’s active membership and role on the server. An account in several companies still has separate Site/project assignments in each. A company address or Super Admin permission alone does not open another company’s field records.

  • Configure roles together with project access permissions.
  • Track an asset's installation stage and progress separately from record approval.
  • Review photos, records, approvals, and return history together.

Access controls and review history support work management. They do not represent a security certification or a certified electronic signature.

Connect field evidence to your existing estimating process

Export planned takeoffs and actual installed quantities as CSV to continue estimating in Excel or Airtable. Keep pricing, labor costs, overhead, and margin calculations in your existing tools.

Export PDFs with drawing markups and Closeout ZIP packages containing records, photos, and related material. On Android, some takeoff and Walkthrough reports are exported as HTML files with embedded photos.

  • Keep evidence for comparing planned, actual, and agreed quantities.
  • Automatic Airtable API synchronization and AI recognition of Excel estimates are not currently available.
  • Distinguish quantities for billing review from issuing invoices and processing customer payments.

After transferring material to another tool, check item codes, units, and scope. Exported quantities do not automatically establish a quote amount or billing approval.

Before you get started

Which PDFs can I upload?

Single-page PDFs are supported. New drawings accept input up to 200 MiB; files above 50 MiB go through preparation to fit the 50 MiB stored-PDF limit. Drawing revision uploads have a 50 MiB limit. Size reduction may not succeed for every file, and converting to an image copy can affect the sharpness of lines and text.

Does AI detect the scale or count assets automatically?

Currently, users enter a known real distance or a paper scale ratio, then record routes and assets. Automatic AI scale detection and automatic asset counting across an entire drawing are not available. Real-distance entry currently uses feet (ft).

Does cropping change existing lengths or positions?

Cropping only changes the displayed area, preserving the existing scale and stored coordinates. You can restore the full-sheet view. Recalibrating the scale or aligning a new drawing revision is a separate operation whose impact must be checked.

Can I use every feature without internet access?

No. You can open material downloaded in advance and keep records and photos on the device. Signing in, receiving new material, server reviews, and synchronization require a connection. Reports with photos can only be exported when the required photos can be retrieved.

Has it been verified on Galaxy phones, tablets, and S Pen?

The web and Android app include mobile layouts, finger precision aiming, and pen input assistance. However, physical Galaxy, Tab, and S Pen checks covering app updates, unsent drafts and photos, and extended offline use have not yet been completed. Validate your intended devices before adoption. A dedicated iOS app is not currently available.

Is a customer's Walkthrough confirmation a legal electronic signature?

It is a work record containing the reviewer's name, results, photos, and history. It does not provide an electronic signature service or verify the signer's identity. Complete any signature process required by your contract separately.

Are Airtable, Excel estimates, invoices, and payments connected?

You can export CSV files for your existing estimating tools. Automatic Airtable API connections, AI recognition of Excel estimates, invoice issuance, and customer payment processing are not currently provided. Agreed quantities and review status provide evidence for those later processes.

How is company access controlled?

The server checks company membership, site and project assignments, and roles. This is logical access control; it does not mean each company has a physically separate server or database. Review any required security and retention conditions before adoption.

Can I subscribe and pay online now?

There are no finalized subscription plans or self-service payment features at present. Adoption and pricing information on this introduction site is for review; scope and terms require a separate agreement.
